WOW Day

WOW Day is happening this year on Wednesday 19 May.

WOW Day is a day for people to say thanks to the fantastic volunteers at the State Emergency Service across Australia and all the incredible work they do to help keep communities safe.

“WOW” stands for Wear Orange Wednesday, so we’re encouraging everyone to put on something orange on Wednesday 19 May to show your appreciation for our amazing SA State Emergency Service volunteers and for SES volunteers across the nation.

If you don’t have any orange and still want to say thanks, there’s many other ways you can get involved, including:

  • painting your nails orange
  • wearing an orange wig, scarf, socks, jewellery or tie (or all of them at once!)
  • baking some yummy orange treats, such as cupcakes
  • decorating your office space, house or letterbox in orange
  • putting an orange bandana on your cat or dog.

There are many ways you can include orange into your day, so get creative!

Let’s show our appreciation to our hard working and dedicated volunteers who do so much for us in rain, hail or shine.

We love seeing your orange creativity! Share your thanks to our SASES volunteers on social media and be sure to tag us in it and use the hashtags #thankyouSES, #thankyouSASES and #WOWDay, so that we can see it and share it!
