Storms can happen anywhere at any time of year, and when they’re severe they can cause major damage. 

For emergency storm assistance, call 132 500. For life-threatening emergencies, call Triple Zero (000).

Steps you can take to prepare for storms

  • Secure loose items around your yard.
  • Check & clear your gutters, downpipes and drains to prevent blockages.
  • Trim trees and branches that could fall on your home or property.
  • Fix any damage to your roof.
  • Check your insurance policy is current and covers you for storm damage.

If you come across a downed powerline, stay far away and report it to SA Power Networks immediately on 13 13 66.

 

Stay informed

Look after yourself and others

  • Have your Emergency Kit (238KB PDF) ready.
  • Stay indoors and away from windows.
  • Never drive, ride or walk through floodwater.
  • Find safe shelter if outdoors.
  • Bring pets and animals inside to keep them safe.
  • Check on your neighbours.
  • Be careful when driving as you may not be able to see very well and trees and branches may have fallen across the road.
  • Stay well clear of fallen powerlines and report them to SA Power Networks on 13 13 66.
